Black Forest Cake





I baked this one for my Boyfriends' Mother Birthday. I hope she would like it. This is actually my first Black Forest Cake, hehehe... ^__^

Ingredients:
- 8 egg yolks
- 4 white eggs
- 175 gr white sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 tablespoon emulsifier
- 100 gr all-purpose flour
- 50 gr cocoa powder
- 25 gr cornstarch
- 150 gr butter, melted
for decoration:
- 250 gr butter cream
- 250 gr dark cooking chocolate
- cherry

Direction:
- Pre heat the oven at 180 celcius
- Put the eggs, sugar, vanilla and emulsifier in one big bowl, and mix them with mixer for about 10 minutes
- Add the sifted flour, cocoa, and cornstarch to the batter and mix well.
- Lastly, add the melted butter to the butter and stir until no more butter left in the bottom of the bowl.
- Put the batter to 18cm square or 20cm round pan and baked for about 45 minutes.

Fondant Cake with Bow

This one is actually for my neighbour's Birthday as a gift.



Bread Pudding II



I like bread pudding; that's why I try this recipe 'Bread Pudding II' from Allrecipes.com.

Ingredients
6 slices day-old bread
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2.Break bread into small pieces into an 8 inch square baking pan. Drizzle melted butter or margarine over bread. If desired, sprinkle with raisins.
3.In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Pour over bread, and lightly push down with a fork until bread is covered and soaking up the egg mixture.
4.Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly tapped.

Best Brownies

Again... I tried a recipe from Allrecipes.com called Best brownies. It's thick, fudge and YUMMY eventhough I don't make the frosting.... the most important thing is it's easy to make.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.
2.In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into prepared pan.
3.Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overcook.


Homemade Tiramisu

I really love Tiramisu. Therefore, when I went to SF, I've always stopped by 'The Step of Rome' to buy a piece of Tiramisu. Since now I live far away from SF, I have to make it myself. I got the recipe from Allrecipes.com called 'Tiramisu II'; It's very Yummy! try it....




Pink Fondant Birthday Cake

I recently made a birthday cake for my boyfriend's sister. I decorated it with pink fondant. It's my first fondant cake. And I've realized I have to learn more from you tube and internet :)

Buca di Beppo

I came to this Buca di Beppo again for my cousin's birthday last February. We went to the one in Brea,CA. It's an Italian with big portions and a bit pricey for me. There is no tiramisu and pizza arabiata anymore in Brea.

La Creperie Cafe - Bohemian Bistro & Bar



I really like Savory Crepes. La Creperie Cafe is a really nice place to eat that Crepe. When my cousin and I were there, we ordered Garlic French Fries, Dipollo and Crepe Carbonara. They are very delicious. Yummy!

Dipollo Savory Crepe... hmmm... I love mushrooms
Fresh wild mushrooms, herbs de provence and mozzarella with your choice of chicken, ham or turkey in a sherry cream sauce.


And Crepe Carbonara, it's a Chicken breast slices, mozzarella and smoked bacon in a creamy garlic parmesan sauce with pesto crepe.

Thousand Layer Spice Cake (Spekkoek/Lapis Legit)



Ingredients:

30 egg yolks
525gr butter (mixed until soft and white)
300gr sugar
100gr all purpose flour
3 tablespoon condensed milk
1 tablespoon powdered milk
1 tablespoon spekkoek spice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
1. preheat at 180 Celcius the 8x8x4inch square pan, butter the bottom and side

2. Mix 30 egg yolks, sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.

3. Add flour and powdered milk into the batter with rubber spatula.

4. Last Add butter, condensed milk and spekkoek into the batter.

5. Add about one big spoon batter to the pan, and wait until brown, then repeat layering until finish. Don't forget to spread butter at each layer.

Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken


I have always likes Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken. It's delicious for snack or with rice.

Here's my recipe for Popcorn Chicken:
3 lbs boneless skinless chicken thigh or breast(your preference)
1 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup sweet cooking rice wine
3 tblsp white pepper
1 tblsp Chinese five spice powder
2 whole garlic clove, minced
2 tblsp brown or white sugar
2 tblsp sesame oil
Corn or Potato Starch for coating

Instructions:
1) mix all the ingredients to marinate the chicken together first until smell good.

2) Leave the chicken with the marinade for an hour or so.

3) Heat up the oil to the right frying temperature.

4) Coat the chicken with the corn or potato starch and deep fry in small batches until golden brown.

5) After finishing, sprinkle some extra hot pepper or salt on the popcorn chicken.
